Tunnel Beach Dunedin

“Why do we love the sea? It is because it has some potent power to make us think things we like to think.”
--Robert Henri

Just South of St.Clair, Tunnel beach is well worth the drive...and the walk.My mum and I were fortunate enough to pick a day with perfect weather to head down to this fantastic beach.I wouldn't recommend going down the track after it has been raining, especially not in jandals, which I learnt the hard way in some wet patches. The walk down is easy, and the walk back up is..well,slow!Tourist sites consider the walk back up to take around an hour or so,which I think translates to...make sure you have a red bull first and you could do it in 30mins!The tunnel at the bottom was built by John Cargill to allow him private access to the beach. The views were breathtaking and I was thankful that I had a camera with me...check out the pics...

The tunnel leading down to the beach

Sculpture-like rock formations down by the beach.

When you head down take a picnic, nothing to heavy,a good pair of shoes,a camera, and some optimism for the walk back up.
